she feels the air is full of songs, crackling with songs. static and SONGS.
i was watching the video for trembling blue stars' "helen reddy" earlier today. great song by a great band. i overslept today & was out of sorts, but the video/song inspired me to write--which is funny because i hadn't planned on doing anything creative today. haha. but such are plans. i demoed both songs on the [8] eight track. one with a finished lyric, the other lyric-less [for the time being]. tentatively titled : "i love you & i miss you" & "the past has passed."
THE JEALOUS SEA was shimmering, dreamy indie pop. they were ronardo p. recacho & taylor b. crawley. they ascribed to ronardo's aesthetic. obsessively listening to obscure, limited edition seven-inch [7"] singles released on ridiculously tiny labels. immersing themselves in the nouvelle vague & the modernist culture. the adoration of subtitles. pouring over european fashion magazines whilst sipping cafe au laits & nibbling madeleines. dressing to impress. writing doe-eyed songs about crushes [and being crushed]. worshiping the brill building & the wall of sound just as much as the C-86/shoegaze/twee movements. having their catchy melodies, boy-girl harmonies & rebellious innocence set them apart from their peers & fully embracing pop--in ALL respects. [music. art. culture.]. by being in debt [and paying homage] to their numerous influences. by giving credit where credit was due. by being music fans before being musicians. by loving what they did & doing what they loved. they were precious with just a bit of sass. to put it simply, they were the BEE'S KNEES!
